His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers received on Sunday Oman Friendship Group in the European Parliament (EU) led by Ramona Nicole Manescu, currently visiting the Sultanate.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sayyid Fahd reviewed the constantly growing bilateral relations between the Sultanate and EU in all fields. Sayyid Fahd also commended the role played by Oman Friendship Group in the EU in enhancing the Omani-European friendship relations.
Sayyid Fahd also reviewed the fundamentals of the Sultanate’s foreign policy, which is based on cooperation with countries in economic and investment fields, as well as understanding on issues that serve security and stability.
Sayyid Fahd stressed the constructive role of the Council of Oman in the national work march.
The conversation during the meeting covered means of enhancing Oman-EU cooperation in science, research, benefiting from the parliamentary experiences and familiarising with the available investment opportunities in the Sultanate, in addition to exchanging views on the developments at the regional and international arenas as well as matters of mutual concern.
On their turn, members of the Parliamentary Group expressed their pride to visit the Sultanate and view the achievements made in all fields.
They stressed the appreciation of the European countries over the vital role played by the Sultanate under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to approximate views, limit regional tensions, contain their security and economic implication and promoting tolerance and coexistence principles among peoples. They also expressed the Group’s confidence that its visit to the Sultanate and meetings with the Omani officials will have a positive effect on enhancing the Omani-European cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of the State Council, Khalid bin Salim Al Sa’eedi, Secretary General of the State Council, Dr. Badriya bint Ibrahim Al Shihiya, Member of the State Council and Najeem bin Sulaiman Al Abri, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium.
